Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2007

Liz Dunn, PTA President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Liz opened with an introduction of Dr. Owner.
Dr. Owner introduced and welcomed 5th grade teachers, Jayne Markon and
Terri Connell. She spoke of the difficult task the teachers have preparing for the SOLs and what a great job they have done.
Dr. Owner also spoke of the success of the ICES Read-A-Thon. More than $10,000.00 was collected and all profit goes to the school. The teachers’ input and involvement made a great difference; parents were very supportive and had great comments regarding their children’s involvement. New computer memory and additions to classroom libraries have been purchased.
A volunteer luau luncheon will be held for all ICES PTA volunteers on Thursday, April 19 from 10:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., in the Theater. Invitations will be sent out soon.
Liz Dunn asked for a motion to approve the March minutes. Marsha Porter-Houghton made the motion; Kevin Brugman seconded the motion. During discussion, Kevin noted that a change needed to be made reflecting that the Dr. Seuss Birthday Party pictures were already on the website. The motion was amended, and the minutes were approved.
Parents and teachers are finalizing the 6th grade party. Liz reflected on the bittersweet moment this event will be for parents and students, with most of the class starting at ICES in 3rd grade and now moving on to Hayfield Secondary School.
