Island Creek PTA Meeting

Minutes of May 4, 2005

Attendees: Jeanne Igo, Sarah Weller, Cindy Smoot, Liz Townsend, Sharon Shrader, Lisa Grewe, Monique Jackson, Jody M_____, Brad Hull, Michael Nagau, Michael Macrina, Kevin Brugman, Ann Adkins, Sara Drake, Tara Carlson, Dr. Owner, Margaret & Jud vonKolnitz, Marsha Porter-Houghton, Hannah Bishop, Brad Center, Penny Klein, Cindy Wade, ___ Talier (?), Candy Cook, and Steve Wallen.

I. President’s Report and Old Business:

Jeanne Igo called the meeting to order at 7:09pm. She welcomed all attendees and teachers (some 5^th grade teachers were present) and introduced the Board. Sarah Weller made the Motion to approve the April minutes. The motion was seconded and the minutes of April 6, 2005 were approved unanimously.

II. Administrative Report:

None at this time due to the Reflections Award Ceremony.

III. Treasurer’s Report:

Sonia Smith was not at the meetings until a little later, so Jeanne covered some of the financial issues. We paid out $1,500.00 to the school to cover student recognition. When Sonia arrived, she handed out the current budget (attached).

IV. Vice Presidents’ Reports: (very brief due to Reflections Ceremony)

Community Outreach:

Newsletter – Liz Townsend asked everyone for articles and anything to go into the newsletter. Her email address is etownsend@cox.net.

Nominating Committee – Sarah Weller requested volunteers for open positions. She went through all of the nominees. The attached list represents the volunteers for Board and Committee positions.

Education:

CAPS –Sarah Weller reported that the 6^th grade will see Civil War reenactors, and the 5^th grade will get a visit from some Knights.

Ways and Means:

Walk-a-thon - Penny reported that this is not going to be a feasible event this year. We can put it on the agenda for next year if we would like to have a Walk-a-Thon.

New Business:

Restaurant Night will be June 23^rd and Dominoes will deliver. Order a pizza or two and support the schools investment towards a popcorn machine for social events.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:20 pm so that the Reflections Award Ceremony could commence. The next PTA Meeting will be held June 1, 2005 at 7:00 pm.
