Island Creek PTA Meeting

 Minutes of June 1, 2005

 

Attendees: Jeanne Igo, Sarah Weller, Cindy Smoot, Liz Townsend, Kevin Brugman, Dr. Owner, Penny Klein, Steve Wallen, Jen Bishop, Liz Dunn, Sonia Smith, Sheila Dixon, and many other parents and teachers.

 

I. President’s Report and Old Business:

Jeanne Igo called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.  She welcomed all attendees and teachers and introduced the BoardKevin Brugman made the Motion to approve the May minutes.  The motion was seconded and the minutes of May 4, 2005 were approved unanimously.

 

II. Administrative Report:

None at this time due to the induction of new officers and ice cream social.

 

III.  Treasurer’s Report:

Sonia Smith reported that we stayed within Budget, and that everything looks good for next year.  We have a reasonable amount of money to start off in the fall.  We received a 508.00 check for boxtops. 

 

IV. Vice Presidents’ Reports:

Community Outreach:

Newsletter – Liz Townsend asked everyone for articles and anything to go into the newsletter.  Her email address is etownsend@cox.net. 

 

Website – Kevin Brugman reported that the website will be active over the summer.  Please send any items to him for the calendar or to post.

 

Education:

No reports at this time.

 

Ways and Means:

Fundraising - Jen reported that there will be another Pizza Night on June 23rd by Dominoes.  School supply orders must be sent in soon.  There will be no extras in the Fall.

           

V.  New Business:

Jeanne detailed the positions that still need to be filled:  Flex teachers, hospitality volunteers, Membership chair.  She reported that we have many daylilies that have been donated to the school.  She asked what the preference was for a meeting day for the PTA meetings.  Sonia Smith made a motion that the PTA meetings be moved to the first Tuesday of each month (Sept. through June) instead of the first Wed. of each month.  The motion was seconded and approved.

 

Flowers and many thanks were given to Jeanne Igo and Dr. Owner, and the outgoing board was thanked as well.

 

The new Board members were introduced (if they attended the meeting) and the following new board members were inducted.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:25 pm for the ice cream social.  The next PTA Meeting will be held on September 13, 2005.
