Island Creek PTA Meeting
Minutes of December 1, 2004
Attendees: Sarah Weller, Sonia Smith, Marcia Pulver, Mark Pulver, Sean Keenan, Michelle Keenan, Mary Beth Williams, Jen Bishop, Sarah Chadwick, Liz Townsend, Howard Wahlberg, Jeanne Igo, Sheila Dixon, Kevin Brugman, Betty Harris, Dr. Owner, Mr. Macrina, Mrs. Kraft, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Eiland , Shereen Khedr, Susan Barry, Kerry Donovan, Kim Clancy, Johanna Guccione, Jill Woodall, and Jim Diersing.
I. President’s Report and Old Business:
Dr. Owner introduced all the teachers and specialists that were in attendance. She reminded everyone of the Internet Safety Seminar and explained the children’s version.
Community Outreach:
Sheila Dixon thanked the parents for all their help and support. She mentioned the boundary meetings on January 4th and 5th .

Hospitality – no report at this time.
Volunteer Coordinator – In Cindy Wade’s absence, Jen Bishop reminded everyone of movie night this Friday.
Ways and Means:
Penny Klein was not able to attend. Jen Bishop reported for her.

Box Tops – no report at this time.
Fundraising – Jen reported that Basket Bingo did extremely well -- $9,300.00. We also donated $878.00 to Life with Cancer. There will be a spaghetti dinner on January 14th at the school from 5-8 pm.
Beautification – no report at this time.
Education:
Howard Wahlberg asked that the following people make their reports or if they were absent he covered the issues himself:
Math & Science Made Easy – no report at this time.
CAPS- Sarah Weller described the storyteller to come and the character awareness scheduled for February.
Reflections – Program award ceremony held after the PTA meeting. Howard thanked Denise and Haley for all of their great work for the program and for our children.
FLEX – A Japanese teacher has been obtained for the Flex program.
Special Education – no updates at this time.
Membership - no report at this time.
New Business:
Jeanne Igo mentioned that a thank you letter needs to be sent to Safeway for the fundraising the did for Island Creek. A big thank you goes to Candy Cook, our liaison from Safeway.
Jeanne explained that the PTA is considering using a company to produce a calendar with the students’ artwork on it. It would be a fundraiser.
Meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:25 pm so that the Reflections award program could be held. The next PTA Meeting will be held January 5, 2005 at 7:00 pm.
