1.   Welcome and Call to Order

Marsha Porter-Houghton called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Marsha welcomed all and mentioned that Red Hot & Blue night was taking place and seemed to be going well. She mentioned the success and low maintenance of the Corbi’s pizza sales. Marsha also reported that the Kingstowne 16 movie theater had recently been purchased by the Regal movie company. This may interfere with our Movie Night of Horton Hears a Who—more to come. Basket Bingo flyers will go out in the Thursday folders and there are still Domino’s Pizza coupons and Spiritwear available.

2.   Principal’s Remarks

Dr. Susan Owner opened with a thank you to parents attending the recent school functions. She was amazed and impressed by the students and teachers for all their hard work. Dr. Owner mentioned assistant principals Mike Macrina and Mary Tam and thanked them for all they do. The preschool teachers were introduced and acknowledged. The preschool teachers stated they are all one family and own all the students. The teachers are essential in helping in many areas they go into homes and address issues and are very active outside the school walls. The teachers are Donna Schatz, Diane Ault, Patti Alf, Cathy Martin, and Christie Corsoro.

The county budget was mentioned and unfortunately preschool and summer school are on the hit list. Two teachers will be sent to testify on behalf of the programs. The budget does not look good for anyone and we will all feel the crunch.
