January 8, 2008

Welcome and Call to Order
Marsha Porter-Houghton called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. Marsha welcomed the families and students in attendance for the Reflections Awards program.

Principal’s Remarks
Dr. Susan Owner opened with an introduction of the specialists at ICES. They included Val Taguding (Physical Education), Cindy Kraft (Music), Joy Neyland (GT Resources), Pam Barton (Reading), Heather Beaman (Art), and Barbara Nido (ESOL). She also mentioned that when all the specialists added their years of experience together there is a total of 22 years.
Dr. Owner also mentioned that in the upcoming weeks there will be several programs at ICES, and she encouraged parents to visit the school with their children.

December Meeting Minutes
The December minutes were submitted. There were a few corrections to be made. Terri Connell motioned to approve; Margaret von Kolnitz seconded. With corrections the minutes were approved unanimously.

Business
Nothing to report at this meeting.
5.
New Business
Joe Corbi’s
Pizza and Cookie Dough sale is underway. Orders are due 1/18/08 and delivery
will be 1/30, just in time for the Super Bowl.
6.
Committee Reports
Education
The Reflections ceremony took place with a cake and punch reception afterwards. All the students did a terrific job and some advanced to the county level. Thanks to Denise Bolton and Steve Wallen as well as Terri Connell, whose class had the most entries.
Spiritwear
Orders are due Friday, 1/11/08.
Liz Townsend reminded everyone that the deadline is Friday, 1/11. New submissions are always welcome.
Restaurant Night
February will be the first Restaurant Night at Red Hot & Blue; dates will be announced soon.
March will be the Read-A-Thon to correspond with Dr. Seuss’s Birthday. March will also host a Movie at the Kingstowne 16 for Horton Hears a Who.

Treasurer’s Report
Cherie Rogers-Mazyck distributed the month’s financial details to be reviewed by all. No questions or comments to report.
Marsha closed with an announcement that there will be an Internet Safety presentation by Ms. Hulke and Mr. Moran at the February PTA meeting. She thanked all the Reflections participants and parents and invited them all back to future PTA meetings.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p.m. Reflections Ceremony followed.
